The Aberdeen trawler Venetia was lost With all nine hands near Stonehaven today in a fierce southerly gale, which was particularly severe on t'-e east coast of Scotland. A violent storm swept over Ireland, western England and Scotland during the week-end. In Valentia (Ireland) the force of the wind rose to over 90 miles per hour in gusts, in one of which a speed of 96 miles an hour was attained. Great damage was done to property in southern Ireland, and . heavy rains caused rivers to overflow their banks. Sea walls were damaged in various parts. Sections of railway lines were destroyed in some places.
