The Lusitania was launched at Clydepedoed by a German submarine on May 7, 1915, while off the Old Head of Kinsale on the coast of Ireland, and nearly 1500 of the 1255 passengers and 651 crew were drowned. ' The Lusitania was launched at Clyuacbank in 1906. She was 785 feet long and 88 feet wide, had a displacement o 40,000 tons and a speed of 25 knots and was fitted to carry 2800 passengers. Over 100 Americans lost their lives in the disaster and the American Government sent a Note of warning to the Germans regarding their methods of submarine warfare.
