EFFORT TO OPEN SAFE ABANDONED SECOND THEFT. WITHIN FORTNIGHT. By Telegraph.—Pres* Association. Gisborne, .Last Night. The sacond burglary in a shop in the main street within a fortnight occurred during the week-end, the premises entered on this occasion being the Gisborne Sheepfarmers’ Company’s hardware shop in the centre of the town. The intruders were disturbed before effecting an entry to the safe containing about £4O. The thieves removed razor blades, a wristlet watch and electroplate ware from the showcases. The safe was dragged from its recess and with a brace from the shop the intruders bored a small hole through the back. Then apparently one man opened the door leading into the window, and-in doing so knocked down a large vase, and, frightened at the crash, left hurriedly.
