TENNIS AND CRICKET GAMES. Recent ladder matches among members, of the Mangatoki Tennis Club resulted as follows (c denotes challenger): Miss D. Gatenby (c) beat Miss J; Nicholas 6—l, Miss P. Parker beat Miss I. Bowden (c) 6—2, B. Nicholas (c) beat R. Linn 6—3. In a handicap buttons match S. Morgan and Miss D. Gatenby beat C. Gatenby and Miss E. Gatenby (c) 6—2. The Egmont competition match with Matapu was postponed on account of the squally weather on Saturday.’ The Mangatoki School cricket team won by default from Awatuna on Friday. Much to the disappointment of the Mangatoki lads the expected visitors were unable to secure conveyances at the last minute. Arrangements had been made by the school children' for their entertainment. A practice match was played, including a'number of girls and two adults. The competition for the Smith Trust Cup. is now concluded for this district. Mangatoki won five matches and lost three, being defeated by Kaponga twice and Riverlea once. Their total competition points are 25. The runs scored by Mangatoki totalled 504 and 422 were recorded against them. Individual batting averages per match are: Hammond 25.7, Bublitz 8.1, Carlson 8.1, F. Muller 8, Gatenby 6.5, J. Muller 3-8, Morgan 2.8, T. Muller 2.1. The bowling averages per match are: F. Muller 4.8, Bublitz 4.7, Hammond 2.
