PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH CONCERT.

GENERAL AND PERSONAL ITEMS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) An enjoyable concert was held in the Korito schoolroom by the members of the Presbyterian Church on Tuesday in aid of Sunday school prize fund. The Rev. R. S. Keenan, Inglewood, presided. Items, all heartily encored, were: Songs, Misses MacDonald and Cocker (New Plymouth); songs, Mrs.. Parker; pianoforte solos and song, Mr. F. R. P. Fredric, who also played the accompaniments; songs, Mr. Cleland; ventriloquial items, Mr. Ferry and “Joe”; recitations, Mrs. Braybrooke (Inglewood). The programme concluded with community singing. Supper was served by Mesdames May, Parker and Ashman, Misses M. Parker, G. and A. Peters and G. Reader.

The final Bible class meeting held recently was .well attended. The class will recommence in the autumn.

The last of a series of euchre parties and dances was held in the Mangamahoe hall, Kent Road, on Friday. A large number attended from surrounding districts. The euchre prizes were won by Mrs. Marsh after a replay with Mrs. Hugget, and by Mr. R. Gyde (Egmont Village).. After supper dancing was resumed to music by. Mrs. A. Fabish. Mr. A. Weir was master of ceremonies. The sjoot waltz was won by Mrs. Marsh and partner. Calf-judging will take place at the school to-morrow. The children have taken a keen interest in the competition this season and several very fine calves will be before the judges. The school committee is presenting a miniature silver cup to the winner of the dairy type calf.

The swimming baths at the school have been opened but owing to. colder weather lately have not been so well patronised. The school children are practising for the breaking-up concert, as this is the first concert to be staged for the past year. Mr. and Mrs. A. Swan, South Island, have come to reside in this district. Mrs. Ross is visiting' her sister, Mrs. W. Reader.

1 Mrs. H. H. Paters, who suffered a severe accident recently, has recovered.

Miss E. Rogers is on holiday at Wellington. Local tennis enthusiasts have opened their courts.

Ensilage operations already commenced in the district are several weeks earlier than in recent years. Messrs. A. Mace, A. Peters and J. Weston spent the week-end at Mount Egmont for the ski-ing sports, which owing to unfavourable weather were postponed.
