PERSONAL AND GENERAL. —\ 4 (From Our Own Correspondent) . Mr, H. Wells is progressing favourably after his. accident. A large party of fishermen arrived at White Cliffs last Saturday night from Hawera on a fishing expedition, but owing to the inclemency of the weather very little fishing was done. Mrs. Pepperell has arrived at Pukearuhe and is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. H. Wells.. Ensilage and hay-making Is now in full swing. Practically all shearing is finished. Mr.. Joe Dyniek arrived home last week from hospital, and is convalescent The coming school concert is expected to be one of the best held in the district for many years.

A number of willing helpers left the Pukearuhe arid Urenui districts to assist in loading the meat at New Plymouth, and according to reports did excellent work. Most of them arrived home in the early hours of yesterday morning. . Several Pukearuhe Maori/ residents visited Wellington to pay their last respects to the late Mr. H. Parata. A supplier to Pukearuhe factory had an unenviable experience . yesterday morning. While on his way to ,the factory with a load of milk his horse bolted, but luckliy very little damage was done beyond slight injuries to the horse’s legs. The Pukearuhe and Wai-iti beaches appear to be growing more popular. A large number of visitors appear every week-end.

The Pukearuhe road is in excellent condition, all the bad corners having been taken off, thus enabling .visitors to travel with a greater degree of safety.
