WORK TO ABOLISH SLAVERY

TRIBUTE PAID TO LORD CECIL. (British Official Wireless.) Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, Nov. 29. A tribute to Lord Cecil for the work he did at. Geneva to abolish the slavery that remained in various parts of the world was paid to-day by Sir John Simon. It would be an immense achievement if the new and greater parliament of the world at Geneva could do sometiling which corresponded to what was done in Britain’s national life by Wilberforce and his friends, Sir John said. One of the great tenets of the usefulness of Geneva would be whether the nations would or would not be able to see something real done in the next few years for the effective abolition of slavery from the world. Sir John will return to Geneva on Thursday.
