SOCIAL AND SPORTING EVENTS. The last of a series of socials organised by members of St. John s Church, Waitara, was held on Monday night at St John’s Hall. The evening passed quickly with dances and games, after which supper was served in the new sup-per-room. The Rev. H. S. Fussel thanked all for their attendance and expressed the hope that when the socials were held next year to see all present again. The Thursday cricket team to play a New Plymouth team on the Camp Reserve at Waitara to-day will be: J. Priar, A. McKenzie, W. Pizzey, A. Chadwick, A. Lobban, W. O’Donnell, R. Grant, H. Beckbessinger, R. Telfar, H. St. George and H. R. Soffe (captain). The opening of the Clifton. Rowing Club will take place on December 3. Thfi following crews have been chosen for the subscription fours, the first race of the season: O. Keith (st), T. Stockman, R. Jones, R. Thompson. F. Olsson (st), O. Sampson, E. Blair, E. Hoskin. G. Topless (st), R. George, L. Byron, R. Watson. J. Donaldson (st), H. Stockman, S. Richards, R. Kendrick. . M. Sampson (st), J. Jones, G. Bennett, J. Limmer. R. Butcher (st),. F. Calgher, R. Keith, J. Elliot. First heat, Keith v. Olsson; third heat, Donaldson v. Butcher; second heat, Topless v. Sampson.
