HIDES, SKINS AND TALLOW. NEW PLYMOUTH PRICES. L. A. Nolan and Co. report that they held their four-weekly sale of hides, skins arid tallow yesterday. The catalogue comprised 1037 hides, 487 yearlings, 407 calf, 1829 salted and 777 ary sheep skins. There was a full attendance of buyers representative of the tannery, fellmongery and export interests. Competition was animated througnout and sales were well spread. Prices showed a distinct upward tendency in noth hides and sheepskins of from jd to -2d per pound. The rise was more noticeable in dry sheepskins than in salted. Lambskins (dried) made an average of Is each against, say, 6d each salted. Pelts sold at from 6d to 9d against 5d to 6d last month. Tallow was slow of sale at about late rates. It was a very small offering. SHEEPSKIN AND HIDE PRICES. ADVANCES AT STRATFORD SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd., Stratford, reports having held its monthly sale yesterday, when nine buyers were in attendance. A catalogue comprising wool oddments, 513 hides, 1161 sheep skins and nine tins of tallow was submitted. Competition for sheepskins and Irides was keen, and prices advanced on last sale’s rates. Following is the range of prices: Wool oddments: Crossbred locks and pieces id lb, crutchings (passed in), dead 2Jd lb, fleece lid to 3id lb, blacK wool lid lb, Southdown 33d lb.
