WRECKED ON ISLAND OF ANEITUM

By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 12.55 a.m. Vila, Nov. 9. The Melanesian Mission steamer Southern Cross was wrecked on the island of Aneitum to-day on her maiden voyage from Auckland to the South Seas.

The Southern. Cross was built in England to replace,the large and older Southern Cross which had done duty in the Island Mission for years. After consecration to the service the vessel recently left Auckland on,her first voyage to the islands. ' ■
