FOOTBALL AT TARIKI

VISIT FROM .DURHAM ROAD. (From Our Own Correspondent).- ■ The Durham Road, football team visited Tariki during the week-end and lost to Surrey Road by 12 points (four tries) to nil. The match was a disappointment to the Durham supporters as the team had shown signa of improvement the previous week-end, hut they fell away badly in this match, cohesion in any department being thrown to the winds. True, there were occasions during the match when clean not evident, but the Durham team can congratulate themselves that there was not cause for one free kick to be given against them. The fact that during the match three of the Durham team were put out of action for a spell—L. Irving with ankle trouble again, -Davidson, who had a knee “put out," and Burrows—aU'ords one jeason for a defeat by four tries, .wo pf which were decidedly doubtful ones. Irving returned after half-time on the left wing, but Davidson was unable to resume and thus re-arrangement of the rearguard of the team at various parts of the game made for disorganisation. The Durham team, who, with the exception of their two best players, N. Brown and W. Goble, were at full strength, were as follows: R. Bradley; L. Irving, P. Alloway, H. Hayman; E. Burrows and A. Irving; P. Davidson (captain); F. Smith; R. Charters, -EDodunski; L. Schimanski, P. Schimanski, H. Goble; F. Dodunski and N. Wedgwood. Mr. Harkness refereed.
