Invercargill, Last Night.

It is understood that negotiations between' Southland sawmillers and a big English motor body building firm for the supply of approximately 9,000,000 feet of silver beech have advanced a further stage. A definite cider for a. sample lot of timber has been placed by the English firm and the consignment is expected to leave Southland next week. .

Not only in England but also in Australia are there bright prospects for remunerative trade iu silver beech. Commonwealth firms are now beginning to place orders in large quantities and negotiations have been re-opened with manufacturers whose dbors. have been closed for the past eighteen months.
