SUCCESSFUL CARD PARTIES.

(From Oui" Own Correspondent.)

The fourth of the progressive euchre parties for the season was held in the Oakura hall on Tuesday. As usual the attendance was excellent. Martin’s orchestra played for the dance which fallowed. The prizes were won by Mrs. E. Andrews, Mrs. M. Price a.nd Miss J. McGregor; Mr. J. Lobb,, Mr. Jury and Mr. H. McCabe. In addition there were points prizes, won by those who totalled the greatest number of points for the four evening's play. These were won by Mrs. G. Fisher and Mr. W. McCarty. Saturday night euchre parties have also been commenced. On this evening the ladies play the men. The . result bf the last party was: Ladies 63 games, men 60 games. The ladies served a [ home-made supper, and. tho function concluded with a dance. The members of the W.D.F.U. gave an afternoon tea at the residence of Mrs. R. Knapman in honour of Miss Irene Haskell, former secretary of tho union, who is to be married shortly. There was a good attendance of members, on whose behalf Mrs. C. J. Harris asked Miss Haskell to accept a picture as a token of their appreciation of her services. Mrs. Harris sang a. couple of songs, and altogether an' enjoyable afternoon was spent.
