After Thursday's match Mick O’Donoghue and Alby Nptter were selected to play in the representative trial match at Eltham.
Mr. and Mrs. W. Marr held a welcome hoqio party at their residence on Tuesday, when there was a large gathering of friends to welcome Mr. and Mrs. J. Lawrence, who were married at Wellington Ihst week-end. The evening was spent in songs and cards and a short toast list was honoured. Mr. Lawrence and Mrs. Lawrence (who recently arrived from Scotland) wore -.the recipients of many presents, including one from the staff of the Mangatoki Dairy Company, where Mr. Lawrence has worked for several seasons. Soiigs were contributed by Miss Shirres, Mrs. Lawrence eenr., hire. J. O’Donoghue, Messrs. F- Wilson and A. Gilbert. Th§ monthly meeting of the Kaponga branch of the Women’s Institute was held on Wednesday. Mrs. C. H. Brewer presided over an attendance of thirty members. A general discussion . tpok place -among members on the l work which Jias been undertaken and the proposed work for the future. Mrs. R, D. Dagg, a. delegate to the recently-formed Tarapaki Federation, gave a report on the formation of the federation and detailed information of the meeting. The Institute stall was in the charge of Mrs. C. N. Gordge and Mrs. E. Boyle ' and good business was again done. A novelty competition entitled ‘'motor-car weddings”’was won by Mrs. H.-A. Gallagher. Hostesses were Mesdames .A. W- Anderson and W. Kehely.
. Mr. A. W- Anderson, electrical engineer to the Kaponga Town Board, is in th© .Kaponga hospital, where he underwent an operation for appendicitis. He doing as well es can be expectedVJ ’ Mesdames Hessell and Abbott returned on Thursday from a motor holiday in the Auckland district.
Mr. W. A. and Miss O’Neill, Riverlea, have taken up residence in Kaponga.
