CYCLE AND ATHLETIC LEAGUE
NEW PLYMOUTH HANDICAPS. ROAD SEASON OPENS TO-DAY. . H’he road cycle racing season of the New Plymouth Cycle and Athletic League opens at the at 2.30 p.m. to-day. The open event is a race of six and a-half miles to the Bell Block factory and back, while a messenger boys’ race of three miles is to be run if sufficient entries are received. Handicaps are: — Open Race. First of a series of three races for trophies presented by the club. Six miles and a-half:—C. Parker scr, N. Bellringer 30sec, T. Hookham 30, J. Wigg Imin, G. Tuffery l|min, H. Eva Ijmin, J- Hutchinson IJmin, D. George 2min, S. Rodgers 2min, G. Plucke, W. Martin, A. Reeve and L. Lander 2'i min, D. Stafford smin, N. Knight Smin.
Riders cannot start a second time unless the club fee is paid.-To-day’s officials are: —Handicapper, starter and timekeeper, Mr. L. E. •Smith; judges, Messrs F. E. Orbell, W. Yardley, G. Tippins and F Knofflock; protest committee, Messrs W. Hay, A. Gable, R. Wilson and L. E. Smith; referee. Mr, G- Sole: road stewards, Messrs C- Area, S. McCann and J. .Donaldson; number steward, Mr, A. Gable.
