IN WAR TOGETHER
FATHER AND HIS SON. SOLDIERS’ REUNION. Among the «x-soldiers who attended the annual reunion of the Auckland Mounted Rifles were a father and son who served in the regiment together on Gallipoli, were both wounded, and in peace still remain partners, co-operat-ing in the management of their farm at Clcvedon. They are Mr. W. R. Holden, sen., and Mr. W. R. Holden, jun., 'both of whom stood up and responded to the roll-call. Mr. Holden, sen., who held the rank of sergeant during the war, went away with the Main Body and was fighting on Gallipoli when he was wounded. His son, who left the Dominion with the Third . Infantry Reinforcements, was transferred to the Mounted Rifles and served as a trooper on the peninsula right up to the time of the evacuation. He then went to France, where lie was gassed. Father and son came in from their farm at Clevedon and were given a rousing reception from their old comrades.
