WEDDING

JURY—SHAW. On Wednesday, June 1, a wedding of considerable interest in ’ Taranaki and Wanganui districts was solemnised at the Methodist Church, '.Hawera, which was beautifully decorated, Doris May (Dolly), younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Shaw, Milmoo Street, Hawera, being married to Donald Angus (Don), elder son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Jury, Aramoho. The ceremony was performed. by the Rev. E. S. Emmitt, and Mrs. King was the organist.. The bride, who entered the church with her father, made a dainty picture wearing a gown of parchment-silk velvet with a long pointed bodice, full length flared skirt and a coatee trimmed witn ermine. Her beautifully embroidered veil of silk net attached to a silver lace cap with orange blossom, fell in graceful folds, forming a train, and she carried an arm spray of cream and pale pink flowers with maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids, Miss Muriel Shaw (sister) and Miss Vivien Jones, wore charming frocks of powder blue silk velvet made with long pointed bodices and cape sleeves, and ankle length’ flared skirts with bustle bows. Small white felt hats trimmed with blue velvet were worn and blue satin shoes to match, and each carried a bouquet of autumn flowers and red berries. Marie Hoare (Tologa Bay), a niece of the bridegroom, made a pretty little flower girl in frilly blue georgette, and carried a posy of autumn flowers. Mr. Noel Saywell, Rangiwahia, acted as best man and Mr. Jack Shaw as groomsman.

The mother of the bride, Mrs. A. 11. Shaw’, wore a becoming frock of bottle green celanese crepe de chine with hat to match and carried a bouquet of green and gold. Mrs. W. Jury, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a frock of black satin beaute and carried a wine coloured bouquet. A reception was held at the “Rewa,” where Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Shaw received betw’een 50 and 60 guests. Later the newly wedded couple left by car for a tour of the North Island, the bride wearing a smart brown tailored suit, a brown felt hat trimmed with touches of orange and stone marten furs. Their home will be at Aramoho.
