HARRIER CLUB ACTIVITIES

THE SPORT IN NEW PLYMOUTH. TWO PACKS IN SATURDAY RUN. There was an attendance of 35 members of the New Plymouth Harrier Club for the run from the Vogeltown school on Saturday afternoon. The runners were divided into two packs, a fast one and a slow one, the slow pack leaving about ten minutes before the fast pack. Mr. C. Robertson controlled the first pack and the pacemakers were R. Lewcr and R. Smith. They led the pack over some good country for a run of about 4£ miles. The course was across the domain to Doralto Road, which was followed as far as the Frankleigh Park bus stop. Here the leaders turned in a southerly direction and went across country for about 2| miles to Carrington Road after crossing" the Huatoki River and several hills. The fast pack, after running about two miles, sighted the leaders but did not want to catch them and made the running a bit longer by going over more 11 reaching Carrington Road the first pack had a short spell and then a brisk run home of U miles. The first three to arrive were Webster, A. Eaddy and R. Smith. The second pack also had a run in from the same point and the first in just caught the back ones of the other pack. Next week the members will meet at Fitzroy beach for the weekly run, and nominations will be taken for the sealed handicap of about five miles to be run from the racecourse on May 7, ]
