DIFFICULTY IN HAWKE’S BAY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Hastings, April 23. During a discussion at a meeting of the Hastings unemployment committee last night representatives of the Carpenters’ Union, speaking in reference to the difficulties created, by the great influx of outsiders coming into Hastings and Napier in the vain expectation of finding work, said that of 000 carpenters in Hastings and Napier only 157 were engaged. Other speakers stated that similar conditions existed in> respect to other trades.
