Discussing the amendments the Government proposes in connection with the National Expenditure Adjustment .Bill, the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes) said to-day that in general the Government intended to adhere to the principle of a 20 per cent, reduction in rent, but the greatest care had to be exercised to ensure that no hardship or injustice was created in special cases. Ho referred particularly to cases of buildings erected since January, 1930, and the problem of arriving at the true rental value of top floor offices ffi big buildings.
