ADMISSION OF ARTISTS
BRITISH POLICY UNCHANGED. SCRUTINY OF APPLICATIONS. British Wireless. Rugby, March 23. Apprehensions which appear to have arisen, particularly in the United States of Am erica,- ..regarding the attitude of the British Government, /towards actors and concert artists coming into’Britain, were removed in the House' of Commons in a statement by the Parliamentary Secretary for Labour. He said that the Labour Minister thought it necessary to scrutinise more closely applications in respect of concert artists, but otherwise no change of policy had been made or was contemplated. Actually in the past six months of a total of 1161 applications from foreign artists to appear in concerts, theatres or variety halls only 60 had been refused. As regarded the United States, there had been 135 applications told seven refusals, none of which affected actors or concert artists. .
