TARATA WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.
The entertainment organised by the Tarata .Women’s Institute was a great success, and the result is most gratifying to the members of the Institute, who all worked hard. The winners of the various games and competitions were: Five hundred, Miss N. Waite 1, Miss Paterson 2. Miniature golf, Miss E. King and Mr. Don Standish. Quoits, Miss Jean Topping and Mr. Cliff Corkill. The potatoes grown by members of the institute were weighed and judged. Mrs. Topping, with 581 b, was awarded the first prize, and Mrs. King (501 b second' prize. The potatoes were grown from three tubers.
During the evening good, business was done at a stall, which was well stocked with home-made cakes, sweets and preserves. The latter, part of the 'evening was given up to dancing, for Which Mrs. Higgins provided the music. Mrs. Soffe kindly donated the prize for the guessing competition. Supper was provided by members of the institute.
