MEREMERE SCHOOL TEACHER.

MISS RENOWDEN FAREWELLED. The Meremere guild on Tuesday at Mrs. GJ Williams’ made a presentation to Miss Renowden, secretary of the 'guild on the eve of her departure for Kihikihi. The Rev. E. S. Emmitt expressed regret that Miss Renowden was leaving and asked her to accept a gift tas a token of their good wishes for her future home. Miss Thomas, Hawera, played a pianoforte solo. On Wednesday afternoon the school children and their parents farewelled Miss Renowden. Mr. D. T. Gardner-, head’teacher, expressed every good wish for Miss Renowden’s future. On behalf of the children Mr. Gardner presented Miss Renowden with a writing case. The people of the district met in the evening at a farewell dance. The large attendance of friends showed how, popular Miss Renowden was in the district. A pleasant evening was spent in dancing. After supper Mt. S. W. Williams, chairman of the school committee, expressed regret at Miss Renowden’s departure as she had been in the Meremere district for nearly five years and had always obtained the best results ■from her pupils. He asked Miss Renowden to accept on behalf of the people a travelling rug and a box of handkerchiefs. The other members of the committee (Messrs G. Wallace, W. Murray 'and H. Davison) and Mr. Gardner also expressed regret at her departure. Music for the dancing was supplied by Mr. ■W. B. Murray and two members of the Hawera Harmonica Band (Mr. V. B. Murray and Mr. B. Brennon).
