Critics declare that Satoh’s speed against Crawford has never been eclipsed in firstclass tennis in Australia. He had the great crowd on the tiptoe of excitement all the time. The results were:— Singles.

Hopman (Australia) beat Nunoi (Japan) 2—6, 6—2, 6—3.

Sproule (Australia) beat Harada (Japan) 6 _4, 6—3. Crawford (Australia) beat Satoh (Japan) 6 —4, I—6,1 —6, 6 3. Doubles. Hopman and Sproule beat Harada and Nunoi 6 —4, 5—7, 6—4. Australia has now won six rubbers and 13 sets and 103 games, and Japan two rubbers, 8 sets and 90 games. The test concludes to-morrow.
