PIHAMA NEWS
(From Our Own Correspondent.) A large number of past and present pupils and parents assembled in the Pibama hall on Thursday afternoon for the school breaking-up ceremony. Mr. J. S. Tosland, chairman of the committee, addressed those present, after which he presented each child with a book. He also presented good attendance certificates to Raymond Ireland, Standard TV., Alistair Hunt, Standard IL; proficiency certificates to Joyce Dickson, Nancy Hunt, Laura Knowles, Yvonne Stevenson, W. Conaglen and L. Forsyth. Boys’ and Girls’ Club badges were presented to Joyce Dickson, first dairy type, second condition in Friesian class; Mavis Corkill, third mangold growing; Yvonne Stevenson, third carrot growing. Joyce Dickson was congratulated by the chairman on her many successes, including iffie cow-judging competition of 1931. v Afternoon tea was served by we ladies and past scholars. The dux of the school is Joyce Dickson, the youngest pupil in Standard VI. Mr. Alan Brown, Wanganui, who has been staying with Mr. and Mrs. Jolley for a few days, has returned home. 1 Mr. Newton, Wellington, has been visiting Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Sheat. Mr. Lindsay Forsyth, who has been seriously ill, is now convalescent.
