THE SCHOOL PRIZE LIST. CHILDREN’S FANCY DRIES'S BALL. Prize* for best work in the Frankley school were *won by the following:— Form II.: Madge Lander. Form I.: Eunice Brooke. Aiftar the performance by the children, the adults were entertained at supper, and then there was a danoe. S. Boivin. The music for the adult dances was played. l>y I/ander. Good attendance certificates have been awarded to .the following: Standard 4, Joy Kenny; Form 1., Eunice Brooke, who has not missed for four years; Standard 3, Desmond Lobb. Home gardenia were judged at the school the other day by Mr. D. Mackay. There were four entries. They will be judged again in February, when also two specimens of crops and notebooks will be judged. All the gardens are very good and considerably improved on previous years. ENSILAGE COMPETITION. 5 At the judging of ensilage stacks among the farmers of Hurworth the silver cup was won by Mr.- Hilton Farmer. A social evening was given to present the winner with the trophy. Mr. H E. Biyde, president of the Farmers’ Union, and Mr. J. M. Smith, one of the Department of Agriculture instructors, were present by special invitation. The cup will become the property of the farmer who wins it three times consecutively, or four timee at intervals. The evening was occupied by a euchre party and dance. While about 40 players were in the supper room playing euchre, dancing was enjoyed in the main h&'ll to the music of Mr. Phil Meredith. - The prizes for euchre were won by Mrg. R. Gilbert, Vogeltown (silk stockings), Airs.. V. Baird (silk stockings), IMr. Reece Gilbert, Frankley Road (Ghrietmas ham), and Air. F. Saliebury (50 cigarettes). After supper Mr. Roy Gilbert introduced Messrs. Biyde and 'Smith, both of whom made humorous speeches, and Mr. Biyde presented,the cup to Mr. Farmer, who was greeted with musical honours wheni he- advanced, to accept the trophy. Dancing was continued until -midnight. PERSONAL ITEMS. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Burkett, Stratford, have returned to their home after visiting Mr. and’ Mns. Burkett,7 Frankley Road. Mr. and Mr§. Kilpatrick, Lepperton, formerly of.'Barrett Road, were visiting here for the Farmer*’ Union social even- /<. X SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNIC. The Sunday school picnic was held last Saturday and ’ was well attended. Father Christmas gave out the presents and then went back to town. Then came the annual prize-giving for marks. In place of tho usual examination conducted by the Sunday echool, ths scholars were entered for the: 37th annual Scripture examination by the Auckland Sunday School Union. Of the 21 eoholare over eight years of age, all but two sat. Of the seven teachers of the staff, five sat. ' Results for the scholars are:-— Mr. H. D. Afullon’s special prize for boys: Laurence Smith (91). Girls’ prize, presented by the superintendent: Joy Crozier (84). Mrs. G. E. Mullon’s prizes for best memory wonk:. Fanny Oigier (girls), Frank Sadler (boys). First-class certificates: Nancy Henry (76), Thelma Goodacre (68). 'Second-class certificates: Noel Gudopp (60), Erneet Smith (58),' Eunice Brook (50). Paes: (Phyllia Shepherd. Teachers’ results are: First-class certificates: Afiss T. Sadler (70), G. P. S. Smith (73), H. D. Alullon (70). Secondclase certificates: Alias D. Tarrant (61), Mrs. Mullon (56). Airs. Hartnell, who is leaving the Sunday school, was presented with & book.
