MAORIS CAPTURE INTRUDER

MANOEUVRE AT NAPIER CAMP. MENACE TO THE COMMUNITY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, Dec. 9. Two Maori entertainers, Henare Tawhiri and Dave Nicholls, when camped near the river last night, heard an unwelcome visitor. One commenced snoring while the other left the tent by passing under the rear and pounced on the visitor as he entered through the flap. The Maoris then trussed up a man named Patrick O’Shannessey and sent for the police. The magistrate this morning inflicted, six months’ hard labour and characterised the prisoner as a pest to the community. O’Shannessey had several previous convictions.
