POLICEMEN IN THOUSANDS
PROTESTS AT WAGE REDUCTION. CROWDS THRONG ALBERT HALL. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—-Copyright. Rec. 10.30 p.m. London, Dec. 9. There were unprecedented scenes at the Albert Hall to-day, where policemen assembled from all parte of the country to protest against the pay cuts. Within 15 minutes of the opening of the doors the hall was filled to capacity by 10,000 men, while 2000 more crowded to overflowings the gangways, sitting on each other’s knees. The attendants closed the doors against another 2000 who, angered after coming from long distances, hammered on the doors. The strange sight was witnessed of uniformed men moving on their comrades. Inside the hall the police sang patriotic songs and cheered the speeches. A resolution is being forwarded to the Home Secretary.
