Mr. S. E. Nielson will leave New Plymouth next week for a months ho iday in Australia. He intends to visit Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane,, and to travel between those cities by air. ■Mr. W. U. Armit, Commissioner of Crown Lands, will leave 'New Plymouth to-day for the Whangamomona and Ohura districts. He will be away from New Plymouth several days. Mr. Vivian Smith, A.R.C.A., art master at the 'Wellington Technical College, has been appointed to a similar position at the Wanganui Technical High School to succeed Mr. Vincent Evans, A.R.C.A., who’fis returning to T .England. Employers and men in the New Zealand engineering trade, m the Conciliation Council at Wellington yesterday, recorded sympathy with the relatives o Sir John Luke, who was described by the Commissioner, Mr. Hally, as one the most valuable men associated with the trade in the Dominion. Mr 4 W- Gent, London, representing the P. and O. Steam Navigation Company, Mr. W. W. Service, passenger superintendent for' Australia and New Zealand for the Australian shipping firm of Macdonald Hamilton and Co., and Mr. E. A. Lamb, passenger superintendent for Gilchrist, Watt and Sanderson, Ltd., Sydney agents for the P. and O. branch service, will arrive at New Plymouth this afternoon in the course of a tour of New Zealand P. and O. agencies. They will be accompanied by Mr. B. N. Harbottle, from the Wellington office of the P. and O. service. The party will stay at the Criterion Hotel and will leave for Wellington to-morrow or Friday.
