MR. W. FLEMING RE-ELECTED

The nineteenth annual meeting of the Kahui Co-op. Dairy Company was presided over by Mr. W. Fleming (chairman of directors).' Fourteen suppliers attended. ... ■

The directors reported, that the intake of milk again showed a big increase on the previous season’s figures. Advances to suppliers reflected the fall in prices and were: July-August and September, Is; October, 10d; November, lid; December, February, May and June, 9d; January and March, 8d; April, 7d. The balance of £OlB would be sufficient to bring the average payment over the season up to 10id per lb. butter-fat. The cheese for the season had been handled on open consignment at satisfactory prices. The statistics showed that 4,853,350 lb. of milk had been received (as compared with 4,074,0961 b. the previous year); 200,2271 b. of fat (191,502.51 b. 517,4941 b. of.cheese. (490,2141 b. pounds of milk to lib. of cheese,; 9.28 (9.53) ; pounds of cheese to 11b. fat, 2.58 (2.55); average test, 4.16 (4.09). Whey and starter cream had been forwarded to Pihama to be manufactured and advances amounting to £995 had so far been received. .

In moving the adoption of the report the chairman commented on the fact that there had been again an: increase in production, 3158 crates having been exported as against 2994 crates, an increase of 104 (13 tons). Since, the inception of the factory the milk supply had almost. doubled, it having been 2,767,5401 b. in 1913 as against 4,803.359 for the season under review.

So far the company had paid lO.jd to suppliers, and it was anticipated that there would be a further payment as the cheese on the water was taken into stock at ad. Mr. Fleming showed the company was in a sound financial position. He paid a tribute to the work of the manager (Mr. A. J. Murdock) and staff. Fuel had shoVvn a big decrease, partly the result' of the installation of the boiler feed pump. Costs were 3.12 d per pound of but ter-fat, made up of 1.982 d for manufacture, ,549 d for export charges, .309 for overhead, and .22d for depreciation. Of the 3158 crates graded, 602 had been finest and 2550 first. The previous season the company had paid Is 5d and had paid to its suppliers a total of £12,504, whereas this year with the increased output the payment would be only £8271.

granted a bonus of £2O. The manager, however, in view Of the economic conditions that suppliers were facing, intimate a that he would prefer not to accept the bonus if it were voted. Mr. W. Fleming was re-elected chairman of directors, a position he has held since the inception of the company.
