Rec. 11.25 phn. Shanghai, July 23. An unsuccessful attempt was made to assassinate Nanking’s Finance Minister, Mr. Soong, on his arrival from Nanking this morning, by a group of southern political agents. Two bombs and 25 bullets missed Mr. Soong but his secretary was killed and six bystanders were injured. The perpetrators of the outrage escaped.
