INGLESIDE AT HUIRANGI.
COUNTRY GATHERING POPULAR. That the popularity’ of the inglesides in the country is well maintained was evidenced by the large attendance at the New Plymouth Caledonian Society s ingleside at Huirangi on Thursday night. The hall, which lias been enlarged to almost double the size since last season, was tastefully decorated with streamers of green and gold which hung from the
walls to the centre of the hall and formed a colourful canopy under which the dancers spent an enjoyable evening. Greenery arranged round the walls gave the hall a cosy aspect. Chieftain A. Rankin was piped in by Pipers A. B. Reid and I. Goble. He apologised for the unavoidable absence of Chief D. E. Brown. He thanked the members of the Huirangi Tennis Club for the invitation to be present and then called upon the masters of ceremonies to take charge. ’The Junction opened with the grand march and thereafter followed a delightful medley of Scottish, old-time and modern dances. The haggis was. piped around the. hall and the ode was delivered by Mr. W. Johnston. Then followed the supper provided bv the ladies of the Huiiangi Tennis Club, among the workers being Mcsdames Rowe, Nieholl, Donald, Arms, Giddy, Pearce, Auld, Wells, Topless, Misses Nieholl, Kedgley and Donald. Martin's orchestra provided the music for the old time and modern dances, while Pipers Reid aiid Goble played for the Circassian circles and the reels. Mr. Des. George gave a saxophone solo, and an extra °waltz was played by Mrs. L. H. Sartcn. Messrs. .J. Corkill and L. Sarten were the masters of ceremonies.
