PARLIMENT WINDOWS BROKEN. MAN’S PROTEST AT RELIEF RATES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, June 23. According to his own explanation Frederick Stevens, aged 53, having been out of work since October and having used his savings and being unable to live on 2s a day under the No. 5 scheme, to show his disgust and to protest against the No, 5 scheme broke several -windows in Parliament Buildings yesterday with stones. Stevens was charged in court to-day with committing mischief. The magistrate, Mr. W. H. Woodward, remanded him for a week for observation, explaining that he wanted to be perfectly sure that the man was sane before dealing with him.
