ASSAULT AND ROBBERY
WOMEN STRUCK ON HEAD. INTRUDER RANSACKS HOUSE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, June 23. A young woman in Remuera was struck on the head and left unconscious on the doorstep of her home on Sunday evening while her assailant ransacked the house. ’ She answered a ring at the door and the stranger asked for directions. As she turned lie struck her. When she recovered her sepses she staggered to the telephone and called the neighbours but collapsed again. In the meantime her assailant searched nearly every room but only a clock was stolen. The young woman’s mother at the time was visiting a private hospital where her young daughter was seriously ill.
