SIDE OF HOUSE BLOWN OUT
AGED OWNER ESCAPES LIGHTLY. GAS LEAK FOUND WITH A MATCH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Two rooms in a house in Newton Road .were wrecked by an explosion of gas to-day, when the owner, Mr. William Probert, aged 83, went to investigate a gas leakage and struck a match. A portion of the side wall of the house was blown out. A window and its frame were thrown some distance, and the ceiling in one room was brought down. Mr. Probert was not injured, although he suffered from shock and his face was singed. His wife, the only other occupant of the house, escaped injury.
