Mrs. Freer, who has been the guest of her sister, Mrs. Thorpe, has returned to Palea. Mrs. Percy Thomson returned on Monday from a holiday spent in Auckland and New Plymouth. • • • * Mrs. J. Cresswell returned during the week from a few weeks spent in Wellington. ♦ • * * Mrs. Blyde (Inglewood) was the guest of Mrs. Polson during the week. » # ■* * Mrs. J. B. Richards has returned from a short holiday spent near Normanby. #. # * * A Stratford ladies’ golf team of 15 players was to have visited Opunake on Wednesday but the match was postponed on account of the wet weather. To assist the relief funds a euchre and dance party will be held on Thursday evening. J « * * * Mr. and Mrs. W. Green have left Douglas for their new home at I'ordell. Pending certain residential improvements a't the Fordell farm they will reside in Wanganui for about three months. • * * * The Stratford Girl Guides held their birthday party in the Parish Hall last week and games and competitions were enjoyed. A bridge party in aid of the funds of the Plunket Society was held in Dr. Doris Gordon’s house on Thursday evenin<r and was very well attended. Bridge was played in two rooms, 19 tables bein<r in play, and the society should benefit 0 to the extent of £lO. Those present included Air. and Airs. L.
