Black returned from Wellington last week. « » * * Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Bennett, Hawera, spent a week touring the Hawkes Bay district,, visiting Napier and Gisborne. After attending the show at- Palmerston North they returned on Wednesday. « * * * Mrs. McL’Dowie is a visitor to Palmerston North this week. # « # * Mrs. O’Callaghan has returned to Hawera after spending a holiday at Rotorua. * # * * Miss Zclia Fama, who has been spending a few days with Miss E. Christie, Manaia, has returned home. Drawing for partners and playing for the highest score made a very pleasant evening at the Women’s Club on Thursday. °Mrs. Dickie and Mrs. J. B. Murdoch acted as hostesses. Mrs. Watson and Miss Macdonald scored the bridge honours. Among those present were Mesdaines Dickie, Murdock, Jobson, Watson (Auckland), Harrop, Meyrick and Beck and' Miss Macdonald. •** - * A . very pleasant day’s sport was spent at Matapu on Tuesday afternoon, when the Egmont-Wanganui Hunt met at Mr.- W. McL’Dowie’s. After three kills and a very fine days sport afternoon tea was* served by Mrs. McL’Dowie, who was wearing a frock of brown silk velvet; Aniong those present were Mrs. Simmons (Patea), Mrs. C. H. Washer, Mrs. J. O’Sullivan, Mrs. Gower,' Mrs. N. Crocker, Miss P. Simmons, Miss M. Washer, Miss K. O’Sullivan, Miss M.
