ROUBAIX STRIKE RIOTING
VIOLENCE BY COMMUNISTS.
CAVALRY SHOWERED WITH STONE By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Paris, June 14. A message from Roubaix states that there was a recrudescence of the textile strike rioting when 300 Communists, whom the police prevented demonstrating, reassembled in another part of the city, where they smashed the street lamps and looted shop- windows of their contents. They barricaded the streets and stoned firemen who were attempting to destroy the barricades. Later the Communists wrecked some motor showrooms and dragged the cars into the street, where they were set on flre. Cavalry arriving to disperse the mob received a shower of missiles, which injured three. The rioting continued until dawn. Forty arrests havj been made. The mob finally numbered 1000. The police chief called on them to disperse, but the Communists replied with volleys of cobble stones. One struck the chief, who was severely injured. Mounted police repeatedly charged until three in the morning. The mob fired several shops and prevented firemen from extinguishing them.
