Recd. 11.30 p.m. Melbourne, June 18. Preparations for the Empire wool conference beginning next week are now being made by the Australian Woqlgrowers’ Council, which opened its annual convention to-day. The council unhesitatingly reaffirmed its decision to oppose any plan for the fixing of wool prices and decided that the council would keep in touch with London market and endeavour to arrange allocations in such a manner that large quantities of wool will not be offered in London and Australia simultaneously. It was resolved to try to obtain substantial reductions in freights and to wait upon the Prime Minister with a view to, securing relief from the high cost of production by the lowering of the tariff and taxation.
