CONDUCT OF WRESTLING

DOMINION CONTROLLING BODY RULES MADE BY CONFERENCE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. A conference of the Dominion Wrestlin"- Union of New Zealand was held yesterday, Mr. H. D. Bennett presiding. He said the most important event of the year was the agreement arrived at by the two bodies promoting wrestling in the Dominion. A complete merger was effected, both at Auckland and Wellington, and this cleared the way for bettex- control of the game in this country. ..... In keeping with its original intentions the union will insist upon the sport being conducted in a niannei free from any of the objectionable features associated with the sport in certain 'States. Regarding representation on the council it was decided that for the present Auckland, Wellington and Otago should have two delegates each andtlie remaining centres one each. After discussion concerning the appointment of a match committee to arrange bouts it was decided to carry on in the usual manner, allowing each association to make its own matches subject to the approval of the union. It was resolved that no active professional wrestler should be allowed to referee a professional contest in future. It was agreed to hold amateur wrestling championships at Wellington towards the end of the season. In every amateur competition the value of the trophy for the winner is to be £1 Is. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Major-General Sir George Richardson; president, Mr. H. D. Bennett; •vice-presidents, Messrs J. A. Brown (Dunedin), P. Climie (Christchurch),the president of the Southland Association, J. Creeke (Wellington), G. Watchorn (Palmerston North) and G. Henning (Auckland); honorary solicitor, Mr. J. D.
