After two years’ secret investigation the Government has secured an indictment against the gangster "Scarface” Al Capone for the evasion of income taxes amounting to £36,500. This and other charges are sufficient to gaol him for thirty-two years. Federal Treasury operatives examined 1000 persons to determine the gangster’s myriad financial affairs. Capone surrendered to the authorities later in the day and was released on £lO,OOO bail.
