Mrs. Ward, Palmerston North, was the guest of Mrs. H. Al. Caselberg, Hawera, last week. « * * # Mrs. Stuart Wilson, Gisborne, arrived yesterday at Hawera, where she will be the guest of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Bramwell. # * * # Mrs. Burkinshaw, Napier, is residing at Hawera, where Dr. Burkinshaw has taken up his duties at the hospital. # * * # Miss Monica Evans is visiting Wellington. 9 * « # Mrs. H. H. Bramwell was hostess at a bridge evening last week. « w * • Mrs. T. F. McKenzie has returned from a visit to Wellington. # a 9 • Mrs. W. R. Wilson, chief Guide Commissioner for New Zealand, has returned to Auckland from Hawera. # «• * * Miss Joan Lawn is paying a visit to Wellington. # * # * Mrs. F. Kendall, Palmerston North, has taken up her residence in Hawera. # # * * Miss R. Taylor is spending a short holiday in New Plymouth.
Airs. J. R. Blake, Palmerston North, and her two small daughters are visiting Hawera. # # * #
Aliss Al. Fryer-Raisher, Auckland, who has been visiting her aunt, Aire. T. J. Allan, “Derwyn,” Hawera, left by car on her return to Auckland on Sunday. Near Te Kuiti the car went over a bank, but it is understood that Aliss Raisher was not seriously injured, and is now at her home in Auckland.
Airs. L. Herbert, Patea, recently gave a party for her brother, Air. Corbett, of Suva. An enjoyable evening was devoted to dancing and competitions.
An enjoyable bridge evening was siven at her residence at Patea by Airs. '. E. Roberts for her daughter, Aliss D. Roberts. The hostess welcomed her guests attired in a frock of coral ring velvet, while Aliss Roberts wore black taffeta and floral ninon. Prizes were won by Aliss P. Simmons and Air. S. Train. Among. those present were Airs. S. Train, Alisses Al. Besley, J. Hawken, Al. Brewer, E. Hobson (Hawke’s Bay), P. Simmons, D. Handley (Alaxwell), A. Bradmore and R. Findlay.
Miss P. Ekdahl, who has severed her connection with the Hawera branch of the Farmers’ Co-op., was made the recipient of a presentation yesterday. The inspector, Mr. W. A. Hewitt, in presenting her with a hand mirror, conveyed the staff’s best wishes for the future.
Recognition -f the services of Miss E. Washer, secretary of the Okaiawa. branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, was made at the branch birthday social. The vice-pre-sident, Mrs. G. Good, presented Miss Washer .with a fountain pen
Mrs. T. J. Allan, “Derwyn,” Hawera, entertained a number of young people at her residence last week. Dancing, games and. competitions were the order of the evening, which proved most enjoyable. Mrs. Allan was assisted by her daughter, Miss Vera Allan, and her niece, Miss M. Fryer-Raisher. Among those present were W. J. Meyer, Misses B. ' wens, M. Nicholas, J. Ritter, N. Shannon, M. Ritter, M. Tapp, P. Gannaway, P. Ward, D. Clapham, P. Holland, V. Ryan, N. Allan, N. Adams and J. Nicholas.
