“BLAZING CAR” MURDER
’ ROUSE'S APPEAL DISMISSED.

The appeal of Charles Rouse against sentence of death on the ground that the verdict Was against the weight of evidence was dismissed. The body of an unknown man was found in Rouse’s burned ear and Rouse was convicted of murder. Mr. Hastings, K. C., counsel for Rouse, asserted that the conviction rested only on prejudice of the gravest suspicion. . The court was five minutes in reaching its decision. RouSo was unnerved. He broke down and wept. His wife collapsed. Later Lord Chief Justice He wart remarked on the great deal of improper comment in certain newspapers and the Correspondence therein. The court would have to consider whether this, pending the appeal, did not constitute contempt.
