(From Our Own Correspondent). ' A most enjoyable concert held by Mr. Pickering on Tuesday to augment the Napier relief fund was well attended. The stage was prettily decorated with coloured lights by Messrs. Pickering and Sole. The programme was as follows: — Overture, Misses Gilhooly and Corbett; song, Miss Sole and company; comic song, Mr. P. Sole; cornet solo, Mr. C. Humphries; song, Mr. C. Maindonald; dancing, Minchin and another; instrumental duet, Misses Goodwin; comic song, Mr, Pickering; song, Mrs. Larking; elocution, .Miss Davis; sketch, Messrs. Blair and Lowry; piano duet, Misses Gilhooly and Corbett; song and chorus, Mr. Maindonald; violin and piano, Misses Goodwin; comic song, Mr. Pickering; song, Miss Sole; elocution, Miss Davis; comic song, Mr.. Sole; song, Mr. Maindonald; sketch, Messrs/ Pickering and Lowry. The accompanists were Mrs. Lowry and Miss Petersen. Miss Gilhooly, Miss Corbett, Mrs. Butler and Mr. Norgate provided the music for the dance and the ladies of the district provided supper. The takings at the door were about £22. Mr. J. Sullivan donated a large box of chocolates, which realised over £3, a small box bringing ss. A competition afternoon was held on Thursday on the croquet lawn, where a pleasant time was passed. Visitors from Warea were present, also many local friends. The games resulted in the following winners: “Bell,” Mrs. Lowry; “ladder,” Mrs. Butler; “golf,” Mrs. Fowlds; “circle,” Mrs. Farquhar. Mr. J. Williamson has been made caretaker of the new bowling green, and with watering, rolling and cutting it should be in good order for the opening soon.
