KING’S THEATRE.
“SWEETIE” TO-NIGHT. Fast, fresh and youthful is an apt description of the peppy, happy picture that is the stellar attraction at the King’s Theatre, Stratford, to-night. It is a Paramount picture called “Sweetie,” whose gay and youthful cast will keep you in a state of hilarity and happiness for two hours. “Sweetie” is the kind of picture that makes you feel glad, the kind of picture that will make you forget the little trials and tribulations of the day and spend a couple of hours of restful happiness in the theatre. It is a story of college; not to say that it. is the same as many of the college stories that you have seen. “Sweetie” tells of a girl’s "love for a young man whose ambition and thoughts in life are materialising when he is captain of his college football team. The girl through a freak will inherits the college and then things begin to hum. Nancy Carroll, Paramount red-headed bundle of charm and pep, is the girl who causes all the trouble, and Helen Kane, a new star in pictures, are the two featured players in the cast. Also featured are Jack Oakie, seen in “Close Harmony” and “Fast Company,” Stanley Smith, a newcomer, and William Austin, remembered for his dude Englishman roles, round off the exceptionally happy and brilliant cast.
