STRATFORD EGG CIRCLE

MEMBERS’ ANNUAL MEETING.

SATISFACTORY YEAR RECORDED.

Mr. W. Hardy-Jones presided, over the annual meeting of the Stratford Egg Circle last night, when another satisfactory year was reviewed. • The annual report stated that the average payment was Is 3Jd per dozen as again Is dVsjd last season. This was considered satisfactory as owing to the change in the date of closing the financial year two flush periods were covered in the balance-sheet. The following comparative figures were supplied, °those for last season being shown in parentheses:—Eggs received, 56,324 dozen, four extra months (39,653); amount paid, £3654 (£2664); cost ,of handling 1.29 d per dozen, (1.5 d average price, Is (ls 4 1 />d); suppliers, 147 (143). Due to the efforts of the poultry organisers the industry had made great progress, and it was hoped the Government would shortly complete the grading system which would be a boon to all poultry keepers. In conclusion pleasure was expressed at the election of the circle’s secretary as Taranaki’s representative on the executive of the Wellington Provincial Council. •

The report and balance-sheet were adopted after the chairman had. paid a high tribute to the secretary, Mr. A. J. Davey, and had eulogised the work being done by Mr. Bates, president of the New Zealand Poultry Association. He asked members to strive always to supply large clean eggs, and so maintain the excellent reputation already gained by Stratford shipments to Wellington. The following executive was elected: Messrs. H. J. Kirkwood, J. H. Hopkins, W. Hardy-Jones and W. Cannon. Mr. A. J. Davey was re-elected secretary at the same honorarium, and Mr. W. F. Ross auditor.
