SUSPICION OF POISONING
FARMER ILL AT TE AWAMUTU
EMPLOYEE ON FARM ARRESTED
ALLEGED POISON IN BREAKFAST

Edward James Walsh appeared in Court this morning to answer n. charge of doing grievous bodily harm to James Allen 'Burns, farmer, Mangapiko, about four miles from Tis Awamutu, and was remanded for a fortnight. It was stated that Burns, who employs Walsh, suspected yesterday that he had been poisoned and, went to a neighbour in a state of serious illness. The neighbour called a, doctor, who diagnosed strychnine poisoning. Remedial steps were taken and Burns is now out of danger. Constable Rimmer was summoned. He investigated and found poison in the reunains of the breakfast food taken by Burns. Walsh was subjected to questioning and was subsequently arrested. There were, only two men on the farm.
