NEW SOUTHAMPTON DOCKS

£5,000,000 TO BE, EXPENDED. British Official Wireless. Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, Jan. 15. The Home Development Committee ’’ has approved an estimate of £3,000j000 to be expended by the Southern Railway Company on extension of the existing docks at Southampton. Details have not been disclosed of the. expenditure on the proposed new dry dock at Southampton for the accommodation of the giant Canard, liners now being built, but it is understood the cost will be in the neighbourhood of £2,000,000. This dock is expected to be ready by the end of 1933, when the first of the two ships is due to be/fitted. out for the Atlantieirlp.
