UNIVERSITY EXAMINATION

FEWER CENTRES ADVOCATED.

SENATE PASSES RESOLUTION.

' By Telegraph.—Prebs Association. Auckland, Last Night.

In the past it has been the practice of the New Zealand University to hold its November examinations at any centre at which there were ten candidates, and where there were fewer than that number they were allowed to have an examination in their centre if they made up the total fees to 20 guineas. At the last November examinations there were 44 centres in New Zealand. A proposal was made to the senate to-day to provide for a reduction of the number of centres, involving the abolition of centres such as that at Rukekohe. This would involve the abolition of examination centres at Rukekohe (16), Thames, Morrinsville, Opotiki, Te Kuiti, Stratford, Marton, Feilding, Hastings (51), Waipukurau, Retone, Motueka, Reefton and Waimate. The motion was carried and the matter was referred to the executive committee to take action.
