Until to-day farmers were enjoying a premium of four shillings per cwt. on butter by the exchange, and it is estimated that the increased exchange rates announced to-day will add practically 2s Gd per cwt. to the London price ‘of butter, making a total premium through exchange of approximately 6s Gd. On previous rates it was estimated the primary producer would benefit to the extent of £475,000 in the current season. The present rise must mean a .substantial addition to that estimate.
